Ponhook Cottage, Ponhook Lake, Queens County is a Nova Scotia vacation rental that offers an outdoor adventure experience your family will want to repeat year after year!

Ponhook Cottage is a newly renovated, two-bedroom, housekeeping Nova Scotia cottage rental, located in the interior of the province. The one acre lot and the mature birch and pine trees that surround the cottage rental offer complete privacy for entertaining friends or a quiet meal on the deck. Our Nova Scotia accommodation is spacious with a large living area with satellite TV, VCR and air-tight woodstove (the wood is included). The kitchen/dining area has all of the amenities including a full-size stove, fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. The two bedrooms are comfortable and include bedding - one bedroom has a double bed, the other has four single bunk beds. The cottage also includes an outdoor fireplace and a 'screened-in' porch area at one end of the patio.

Ponhook Cottage is a five-minute walk from the sandy shores of Ponhook Lake. The lake is one of the most popular recreational lakes in the province - great for family picnics, swimming, kayaking, canoeing and hiking; nearby Molega Lake offers similar recreational opportunities. The Medway River, about 15 minutes from the cottage, is one of the finest canoeing and kayaking routes in the region.

The Ponhook Nature Reserve is a short dive from the cottage. The 43.7 hectare protected area is home to several varieties of distinct species of plants known as the Atlantic Coastal Plain Flora. The Virginia Meadow Beauty, one of several rare plant species found in the Ponhook Lake area. The pink flowering plant is found in the sandy soil of wet meadows and shores of the lake. According to government reports, "Eight significant coastal plain species occur along the islands and shorelines of Ponhook and Molega lakes. These include six nationally rare (one of which is shown on the left), one critically imperiled and one imperiled species." Informative walks of the Ponhook Nature Reserve are occasionally offered by conservation groups in the province; guests at Ponhook Cottage are encouraged to register for these walks when offered - and don't forget the camera!

For the outdoor enthusiast interested in sport fishing, Ponhook Cottage offers opportunities for trout fishing on the Medway River, and at nearby Ponhook and Molega Lakes. For those with their own watercraft, bass fishing is available at 10 Mile Lake, Queens County one of the most popular bass fishing lakes in Nova Scotia. 10 Miles Lake is just 16 kilometers from Ponhook Cottage.

Ponhook Cottage is about 20 minutes from Kejimkujik National Park in Annapolis County; 30 minutes from the historic town of Liverpool and about two hours from the Halifax International Airport.

Ponhook Cottage offers spacious two-bedroom, accommodation in the heart of 'cottage country' in Queens County, Nova Scotia. The Ponhook and Molega Lake areas of the county are among the most popular summer recreational areas in the province. There are miles of shoreline to explore, rare plants to identify and photograph and numerous opportunities for hiking, swimming, sport fishing, hunting and paddling.

Our Nova Scotia vacation rental is basic, comfortable and clean. The kitchen area includes all the usual amenities such as a full-size stove, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dishes, everything you need to prepare a full meal or a quick lunch following an afternoon canoeing adventure or swim at the lake.

Guests really appreciate the air-tight woodstove in late summer and early fall. And it doesn't take long to feel the heat! The Nova Scotia cottage rental is well insulated, making it the perfect place for hunters to escape the cold, after a day of searching the miles of woods roads and lush forests of Queens County. The county is one of the best white-tailed deer and black bear hunting regions in the province.

Ponhook Lake Nature Reserve is a government designated protected area in Nova Scotia.

Ponhook Cottage offers more than just Nova Scotia accommodation. Found in the middle reaches of the Medway River system, which stretches from Annapolis to Queens County, the 43.7 hectare Ponhook Lake Nature Reserve is one of several government protected wilderness preserves in Nova Scotia. Eight significant Atlantic Coastal Plain Flora species occur along the islands and shorelines of Ponhook and Molega lakes, including the Golden Crest, shown on the left.
